Making home education fun for your child
Turning a part of your home into an inviting, brightly colored, and interesting home education zone can help your child associate learning with play time. What better way to help your child love learning than to make it continuously fun? We have some tips on helping make home education an enjoyable experiencefor you and your child.
- Convert part of your garage, basementor use the family den as a space your child can use for reading, math games, and more.
- Let your child decorate! When your child decorates their own space, you encourage them to claim the area as their very own (and increase their independence)which will, in turn, encourage them to spend more time there!
- Stash the area chock full of learning gamesmath puzzles, books, phonics gamesyou name it, so that your child has a large selection of activities to look forward to.
- Use sheets to create tents or tapestries to give a sense of privacy for your childoftentimes when a child is learning to read or learning to add, subtract, or multiply, they are embarrassed by their progress. Give them a sense of security!
Never use your childs education area as a punishment corner, instead, use the area as an incentive for good behavior. Whenever your child is behaving, say to them you can spend a few hours in your play zone for being so good today. This will help your child associate their education/play zone with good experiences and rewards.
